Tonight there are some excellent shows going on in the city of Brotherly Love.

Although not quite in Philly, not too far away is the annual Dave Matthews Band concert series. There is no way to describe the incomparable group and the mass effect they have had globally, both with their music and their strong ambition to create a more peaceful world. Last year in the summer of 2011 they took a break from their yearly tour, instead celebrating their 20th anniversary by playing multi-day shows along with other artists for a Caravan Tour, one which took place in Atlantic City. This summer, DMB’s tour is back, the first of a two night residency is tonight at the Susquehanna Bank Center. Brandi Carlile opens for them; she played at our Non-Comm this year and you can listen to her live performance here. General admission tickets to the show can be purchased here, show starts at 7 PM.

Purling Hiss, the most recent Shaking Through all-stars, play at Johnny Brenda’s. You can check out their episode curated by The War on Drugs, Adam Granduciel, here and purchase tickets to the 21+ show here. Purling Hiss plays with The Young and Far-Out Fangtooth at 9 PM.

Over at Milkboy Philly, the electronic indie project, Exitmusic will be playing with Stagnant Pools and Lockets. Tickets to the 21+ show can be purchased here. Doors at 8 PM. Listen to the session WXPN’s Eric Schuman did with the band here.

PhilaMOCA hosts the weekly Tuesday Tune-Out, tonight featuring a local favorite, Oh! Pears. Show at 8 PM; tickets to the all ages show can be purchased at the door for $5.
